2012 CDI Scholarship
CDI is sponsoring the conservation and agriculture scholarships again in 2012. The scholarships are offered to graduating Iowa high school seniors for their first year of education on the college level pursuing programs of study in any field of agriculture or natural resources. Three scholarships will be awarded on the state level in the amounts of $1,800; $1,200; and $1,000. Polk County seniors should submit their application to the Polk county Soil & Water Conservation District, 1513 N. Ankeny Blvd., Ste. 3, Ankeny, IA 50023 no later than March 2, 2012. the 2012 scholarship application is available online at http://www.cdiowa.org/education.html Â

Rain Barrels – Manage Your Rain water
 Polk Soil and Water Conservation District is now selling rain barrels!
Rainwater is directed off our properties and picks up pollutants as it flows to streams. We then pay for drinking water to irrigate our landscapes. The simple way to start harvesting rainwater is to install a rain barrel. Rain barrels are connected to downspouts and the water is stored for watering yards and gardens. Check out our brochure!  Â
